"Back Here" by BBMak

Back from Penang!!! It is a bittersweet experience coming back.......knowing that I am back at home now and also that I have one more week of holidays left with so much stuff to accomplish.....

Day 0 Not a Grassland coach ride

Our coach trip to Penang was nonetheless flattering with our toilet deprived coach and the extra strong air con not to mention I have to sacrifice my Adidas ski jacket for Maojie - my sleeping partner....Haha....who was wearing singlet, shorts and slippers on the coach......Had a long talk with him regarding bgr and politics.....gained a few insights and it was nice talking while everyone was trying to sleep even though we were a pain in the ass.........most of the times its Maojie for his inability to whisper.....Haha

Day 1 "Best friend" - Ai Ling from Penang

We were in a world of our own in Penang even though we were in Malaysia and we are chinese.........Our first experience of bargaining was when we were looking for a cab.......A cab with a meter that the driver doesn't use and they have the final say how much we have to pay.......Are we going to bow down to that! Of course not.....not until a good samaritan called Ai Ling came to our rescue......She was going to be our driver for the next 2 days and of course we learned there is no such thing as a free lunch......We in the end have to pay her for her services but it was definitely much cheaper as compared to the cabbies.....

Day 1 Kek Lok Si Temple / Botanical Gardens / Penang Hill (it should be a mountain) / Gurney Plaza

I was amazed at the humongous (not big, not large, not enormous, not gigantic but humongous) size of the temple and the Buddha statue.....It was a cool place where we took the incline lift to the highest point of the temple and received free expired chocolates from the helpers.......not knowing that the date stamped is the manufacturing date......Ditto! Siwen claimed to be there before and thought she saw snakes but the whoo haah was a mere fraction of her memory......Haha...
One thing I realised is that beggars in the temples are pretty blatant at their disingenuous attitude when begging.........One of them was smoking in front of me while holding a cup when begging.......

Botanical gardens in penang was a mess........I was amazed as how they would classify it as a tourist attraction except for their ferocious monkeys and the tarantula version of millipedes....and the foot of the waterfall......

Here again Ai-Ling came to our rescue and brought us back to Berjaya Georgetown hotel where we cleaned ourselves up and headed to Gurney plaza for a first day of shopping...

Gurney plaza is like any other shopping centres in Singapore just that the things there are much cheaper that I would have thought. I bought myself a Levi's Tee and a Diesel singlet my first trip there.....
Movie was priced at like Rm $8 and movies were pretty decently recent.....Super sapiens = Hellboy .......I thought it was a B grade action film when I first came across the title.....

Day 2 the sun the sand and the sea

I spent Rm $100 in exchange for 3 first time experiences and all 3 I had my fair share of embarrassment...

1) Parasailing
After witnessing Siwen's magnificent landing, with everyone laughing their heads off, I told myself just land without my face flat. Well, I did not land with my face flat but I landed on my butt which was an okay deal at that time but not when everyone after me landed beautifully with both their legs.....Clement almost started off with his face flat, almost stealing the show from Siwen but parasailing belongs to Siwen.....haha

2) Banana boat
This one was so cool......I never thought the last seat would be the most fun...I was desperately hanging onto dear life at the last seat....Everyone was hopping like kids on tramboline and I was being pushed up by their effect on the boat....so technically I didn't hopped but I was hopping.....
Capsizing was fun especially when everyone flew from the boat but I was the only one that flew from the boat at the last trip back because I think resonance was reached when the first 6 people hopped and I got the brunt of it....It flew me off my seat and with one hand, I was hanging onto yonghe's life vest and I decided to let myself go without pulling him along.......Haha....It was priceless Haha.....plus I got a free jetski ride back to the shore

3) Jetski
I was telling Maojie......my reckless jetski buddy that I didn't want to be the first in history to fall off a jetski after his sharp turn bonanza since the instructor said no one has fall off from the jetski.....LIAR!
the pillion ride was so unstable.......There was nothing to hold on except the driver.....and I did the unexpected and fall off again! I felt like crap the minute I knew I was in the water cos I had to think of stories and excuses to explain why I fell....Haha...

We sneaked into Golden sands resort to wash ourselves up and we were so close in escaping without them realising it until we were caught by this guy in white who shooed us away.......

We spent our second evening shopping again and played the modified heart attack game at night.....I think I sucked at that game........I just can't keep my mouth shut...

Day 3 shopping paradise

Day 3 was spent on shopping and shopping alone.......And the suprising thing was that I wasn't tired at all. Because you will never know what is the meaning of cheap until you arrive at Komtar........Well I wanted to buy lots of stuff but everything just went wrong....."sorry no size" was the phrase I heard a gazillion times....the PUMA shoes and slippers.........the Levi's vintage jeans........sigh......It was a total misery for me.....until I found a PUMA long sleeves shirt at another mall.......YaaaY......hAppY!

The only regret this trip was that there was not enough shopping time for mE!! I sound like a shopaholic now Haha...............
