Big Fish

Well I have decided to switch my blog back to the layout cos' I heard it hangs people computer so for the better of my readers and to satisfy no.25 for a happier layout, it is BACK!!!

I have decided to be a little movie critic of my own so I will dedicate this blog space into a movie review after watching a movie!!

To watch Big Fish or not, that was the thought that was pondering on most of our minds in the afternoon. After I walked out of the cinema, I was glad to have made the former decision. To tell you the truth, I thought that Big Fish was a cheesy title for a movie....I mean Big Fish?? Well even a fishy movie like Finding Nemo doesn't have the word Fish in the title....Haha....Anyway Fish Leong is on my computer speakers now.....Back to my review...

Something that struck me throughout the movie was that this movie was depicted through many flashback scenes. It is something different compared to the normal progression in most movies nowadays....The only movie I can think of that has a different way of delivery is Memento.........but I welcomed the flashback scenes with open arms. While some might feel that it is quite disruptive, I thought it was an ingenious way.

What I brought back after the movie is an issue that struck me close to my heart. It is still a lingering issue whether did Edward Bloom told his son the whole truth. But I reflected upon the point on the amount of contributions Edward gave to the people he never really knew. Do I really want to live this life of mine impacting no one or do I really want people to feel that I have been a blessing in people's lives. The scene of Edward Bloom's funeral struck me dearly. To go with so many people at your funeral whom you have impacted throughout your lives at your funeral is WOW! That was a scene.

The cast did a great job on a whole....Ewan McGregor bedazzled me again with his charisma after Moulin Rouge. I still think that he is one of the more talented actors around. Danny Devito and Steve Buscemi were nice to have as cameos. Helena Bonham Carter was better off looking as a witch than an ape in Planet of the Apes. Billy Crudup (William Bloom) ............ I thought I saw his name before...just couldn't remember the movies he acted. Jessica Lange (Sandra Templeton) was nice to see after remembering her as a psychotic mother in law after Gwyneth Paltrow in Hush. Didn't know who Albert Finney (old Edward Bloom) was until today......heard he got some nominations for Big Fish too......

Big Fish was a movie Oscars should have considered...........

Ratings: **** 4/5 There isn't a movie I can give a perfect score....maybe LOTR but nothing is perfect :)
